The Midlands community is mourning the loss of Austin LeSane, a respected football coach, mentor, and local business owner who died in a fatal traffic collision in Richland County, South Carolina, on Friday, July 10, 2026. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. on McCords Ferry Road near Lake Dogwood Circle. Authorities reported that LeSane was driving a 2014 GMC Sierra northbound when it was involved in a head-on crash with a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but LeSane was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the collision.
